Our patient's love of wine was evident the moment we met her. From the time she was still well enough to sit up in her chair with a glass of her favourite wine, to the moment she was no longer strong enough to sit up or hold her plastic wine cup; she always asked for a sip of wine.
The Living Wish Foundation was enlisted and that night, when she woke up and made her request, with the aid of a tiny pink mouth swab, the staff were able to make her final wish come true.
It only took a few drops before she lay back on her pillow and smiled in contented satisfaction, proving even Ernest Hemingway right.
