    Nancy Good-Kennedy

    Co-Founder and Director

Being in love with people, who they are, and what makes them a person, Nancy Good-Kennedy R.N., R.Ac , Co-founder of The Living Wish Foundation, joined the field of nursing >20years ago. She knows firsthand, that when human-beings are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Med-Surg, private practice, clinical mentoring, community nursing has been integral in shaping her approach to care. A belief in treating the person as a whole being is supported by her training as an Acupuncturist with a range of complementary modalities including Reiki and therapeutic touch. Her craft has been further mastered when joining the Hospice Palliative Care Network as a Palliative Care Nurse Consultant. Nancy acts as a consultant to health care practitioners and a resource to patients and their families. This work led her straight into the Nurse Navigating role for the Shared Care Team, where she again works closely with physicians, nurses and executives to bring a shared voice to an innovative approach to palliative care.

Nancy comes to us as a transplant from the east of Canada, where she takes great pride in the birthplace of those strongly rooted values of dignity and respect. Nancy is not new to the shores of Georgian Bay as she shared these shores while summering in the Parry Sound Area. A sure sign she is on the waters…. you may be able to hear some rendition of Leonard Cohen and lots of laughter as that little runabout shares its seats with a chocolate lab or two…. and for sure a true ginger gentleman.

Nancy’s regional involvement with Advanced Care Planning has gifted her with the opportunity to engage patients in conversations on what matters to them, often bringing a sense of comfort, meaning, and completion to a life well-lived. This may include fulfilling a dream to travel somewhere or reconnecting with a friend or relative. Sharing thoughts is a gift one gives the other on the clarity of a good end of a good life. Life doesn’t stop with the diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, in fact, it may be just the beginning you have been waiting for. Find peace & closure with the realization of a final wish. Renew spirits & hope.
