Dr. Scott Houston

Scott Houston is a semi-retired family physician and anaesthetist who has worked in Creemore and Collingwood alongside his wife, family physician Anne Engell, for the last forty-two years.
He was born in Winnipeg and raised in Montreal and Toronto. He graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in 1979. He did residency training in family medicine and family practice anaesthesia in Winnipeg and practiced in rural Manitoba for three years. He and his family moved to the Collingwood area in 1985. His family practice was in both Creemore and Collingwood. He worked at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital until 2022, doing both inpatient family medicine and anaesthesia. He served as the Chief of the Department of Family Practice, Chief of the Department of Anaesthesia, Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Medical Staff Association and member of the Board of Trustees. He served on the boards of My Friend’s House and Collingwood Youth Soccer.
Since retiring from full-time practice in 2022, he worked part-time at My Friend’s House, Home Horizon and the Outpatient Mental Health Services Clinic at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, providing care to patients living with mental illness, substance use disorders and homelessness. He recently finished work in these roles to help out with family members living in London, Ontario.
